Learn Dutch

Let’s start with this:
All lessons are specifically developed for your learning objectives. This means that every lesson plan is different from other students. While content or goals may overlap from time to time, each plan is like its own recipe.

At this moment, I offer types of lessons:

As you might have read on the “About Me”-page, I am an experienced elementary teacher and I have found opportunities to use my school approach in my work for The Dutchest Thing. Here are the key elements:

  • Building confidence in steps by focusing on passive language development first (reading and listening) and active language development second (writing and speaking).
  • Offering clear and relevant examples.
  • Asking why an answer might be right and discussing it in-depth, rather than saying an answer is right or wrong.
  • Anticipating to the needs of my students, rather than demanding them to conform to my needs.
  • Taking the time when that is needed, and speeding up when the opportunity is there.
  • Creating learning opportunities by asking you to think, rather than having me correct you.
